International Fraud Awareness
With online being the leading global source of fraud, we must note International Fraud Awareness Week. Companies are sought-after targets for financial fraud and it’s time to get serious about preventing fraud in your organization.

The best way to do that? Create a culture of awareness and fraud prevention. Fraudsters trick company employees through tactics like phishing, fake apps, and social media. It is important to involve everyone in the organization to prevent fraud.
Fraud prevention is a team effort—and it starts with everyone on your team being aware of the different types of fraud out there and their responsibilities in preventing those types of fraud from happening. It also means educating yourself on how to spot suspicious activity so that you can report it when you see it.
Here are a few ideas to make it happen that has helped our organization to be secure.
- Create an internal reporting system where employees can confidentially report suspicious activity or behavior by other employees, vendors/contractors.
- Create an anti-fraud policy that clearly outlines what behavior is acceptable/unacceptable, who handles investigations into possible cases of fraud, and how those investigations will be carried out by all employees within the company.
- Make sure your employees know what fraud is and how to recognize it. Train your employees on how to detect fraudulent activity.
- Make sure that everyone in your organization has access to resources and information about fraud prevention and detection so they can stay informed and avoid becoming victims themselves!
