Challenge: Our healthcare client, a large hospital network, was grappling with SAP system and diverse legacy systems. The legacy landscape was complex and heavily customized, posing significant challenges for the migration process. Moreover, the hospital’s master data was unclean and swamped with errors, threatening the integrity of the new system. To successfully migrate to SAP S/4HANA, our client required a comprehensive strategy to address the challenges of accurate reporting, insurance and third-party claim submission & recoveries.

Our client is a leading technology-driven pharmaceutical company headquartered in Dubai, providing diversified products globally through research, development, manufacturing, and marketing of innovative products. They aim to manufacture and supply products that effectively support their diverse customers’ needs, and are involved in pharmaceutical drug development and production, with operations in multiple continents.

For their APJ region operations, the client used SAP ECC 6.0 systems to support their business processes, but wanted to upgrade to SAP S/4 HANA to improve system efficiency and user experience as part of their digital transformation drive.

To achieve this, they engaged a top-notch SAP service provider to implement SAP S/4 HANA and migrate data from the existing ECC system to S/4 HANA using the Data Migration Cockpit (DMC) tool provided by S/4 HANA.

However, the use of the web-based DMC tool required a unique niche skillset that the service provider lacked, leading to hiccups in the implementation of S/4 HANA.

As data migration was a critical task, the client understood the need for an experienced provider and reached out to ComTek as an extended partner to support them in their data migration to SAP S/4 HANA.

ComTek was onboarded midway in the project but that did not delay us. Our consultants thoroughly understood the client’s requirements and proposed a tailored engagement model that would best fit our customer’s needs. We carefully handpicked a team with the necessary rare skill set to ensure the successful execution of the project. Our project management office (PMO) took ownership of the project and assigned a dedicated project manager to guide the team through the data migration process, working closely with the incumbent IT service provider to ensure the smooth implementation of S/4 HANA.
The project was carried out in two phases. In the initial phase, the consultants extracted data from the ECC system, cleaned it, and transformed it before loading it into SAP S/4 HANA using the Data Migration Cockpit (DMC) tool provided by the S/4 system.

ComTek utilized multiple tools for data extraction and upload, successfully migrating a large volume of data from ECC 6.0 into SAP S/4 system, including both Master data, Transactional data amongst others.

Thorough testing was conducted by the consultants to ensure that the data in S/4 HANA was in sync with the ECC system, and any discrepancies were analyzed in consultation with the business teams, with a comprehensive report provided to the management. The project was executed within budget and to the complete satisfaction of the client, showcasing ComTeK value proposition and expertise in data migration and project management.
